QMS can refer to an organization’s quality system or to software supporting controlled documents, inspections, nonconformance, corrective work, and quality evidence.
What it means in manufacturing
Software supports a quality process but does not establish certification or conformance by itself. Applicability, procedures, authority, validation, and retained evidence remain scope-specific.
A question to use in evaluation
Can a failed inspection be traced through hold, review, disposition, rework, release, and the exact requirement used?
Keep the label and the evidence separate
Category terms describe a type of work; they do not establish what a specific software release, configuration, integration, or customer process can do. Test the proposed boundary with representative records, responsible owners, failure cases, and written acceptance criteria.
