First-pass yield: First-pass yield (FPY)
First-pass yield is the share of units or work that meet the defined acceptance condition without rework, repair, retest, or another pass through the process.
What it means in manufacturing
The calculation is only comparable when the denominator, process boundary, rework rules, excluded events, and source records are defined consistently.
A question to use in evaluation
Can the metric be reproduced from source production and quality records, including ambiguous dispositions and missing measurements?
