Set the baseline
Define the current workflow, data quality, volume, timing, error rate, cost, owner, and measurement method before evaluating a change.
Describe testable behavior
Document inputs, outputs, roles, decisions, approvals, exceptions, integrations, audit events, accessibility, privacy, security, retention, and recovery. Separate required product behavior from customer process and external-system behavior.
Accept results carefully
Use representative and failure scenarios, an agreed comparison method, and a qualified human reviewer. Record limitations and exceptions. An estimate becomes a commitment only through a signed scope with acceptance criteria.
