Best manufacturing ERP for mid-market companies: build a ranked shortlist

A vendor-neutral method for ranking manufacturing ERP candidates against your workflows, constraints, evidence, and full commercial scope.

Define “best” before naming a product

There is no defensible universal best manufacturing ERP. Define the company profile, manufacturing modes, sites, users, regulatory or customer requirements, systems to retain, decision owners, and mandatory workflows. Weight requirements before demonstrations so a persuasive presentation cannot quietly change the score.

Rank evidence, not checkmarks

Give every candidate the same representative records and tasks: a changed order, material exception, production interruption, quality hold, partial shipment, correction, failed integration, and evidence retrieval. Score demonstrated behavior separately from configuration, custom work, roadmap statements, and unavailable items.

Compare the complete operating arrangement

Include specialist systems you will retain, interfaces, data migration, infrastructure, internal staffing, implementation, training, support, renewal, export, and exit. A broader product label is not automatically a simpler or less expensive operating model.

Disclose the publisher’s position

Cortrova publishes this method and may be one candidate in a reader’s evaluation. This page does not rank named vendors because the evidence needed for a fair ranking is version-, scope-, date-, and customer-specific. Use the scorecard to produce your own dated shortlist and retain unresolved risks beside the total.

General evaluation guidance, not professional advice or proof of product availability. Use current primary evidence and qualified advisers for obligations affecting your organization.
